Guinness World Record is collaborating with a television data firm, Parrot Analytics, to find the world's most popular TV and digital original series.

According to a report by Variety, the winners will feature in the 2019 edition of Guinness World Records that will hit the bookstores on September 6.

Reflecting on the deal, Wared Seger, CEO of Parrot Analytics, said that it is an honour for them to work with the venerable Guinness World Records.

Guinness has, in the past, tapped Parrot's TV demand measurement system for its 2018 world record publication. The 2018 edition identified 'Game of Throne' as the most in-demand TV show.

The 2019 edition will be honouring 'Stranger Things', American web television series, as part of a new category developed to include original series by streaming services like Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix.

Craig Glenday, Guinness Book of World Records editor-in-chief, said that by adding the category for digital originals this year, they will get an idea of how much the world's video consumption has changed.

The winning series will be tagged as the 'Officially Amazing' series on September 4.
