SHANGHAI
After a full renovation, the brand-new Ai Mei Chinese Restaurant of Le Royal Meridien Shanghai opened on 26 April.
Ai Mei Chinese Restaurant brings guests a refreshing dining experience, serving fine Cantonese cuisine deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of Hong Kong and Guangdong and with influences of Shanghai. Managed by Chef Alan, famed National Cooking Chef, the restaurant combines authentic Cantonese cuisine with local traditional Shanghainese flavours.
Located on the 8th floor, Ai Mei Chinese Restaurant offers a relaxing and contemporary setting. Red is featured prominently in the interior design, a colour considered a symbol of elegance and happiness in ancient China. The restaurant is well furnished with royal Chinese interior design elements and Shanghai cultural art decorations. In the corridor of the restaurant, the iron characters of the signature dish names have been disassembled and rebuilt to interpret and record the history, as well as innovative cultures, of Cantonese and Shanghainese cuisines.
Made up of five private dining rooms and two dining halls, Ai Mei Chinese Restaurant features a separate event area which is directly connected to Shanghai Shimao Festival City Mall. With a capacity of 120 pax and state-of-the-art AV and projector facilities, this event area is specially designed for various social functions. The five private dining rooms are named after significant and historic Shanghai streets, from where the Shanghai dining customs and food culture have spread and developed. Aside from that, Ai Mei Chinese Restaurant will stay true to its roots in terms of authentic and traditional Cantonese cuisine and refuel with innovative and unique Shanghai flavours.
With a strong focus on the local market, besides the traditional Cantonese dim sum selection, Shanghainese flavours are skillfully incorporated into the dim sum menu as well. To meet the market demand, Ai Mei Chinese Restaurant implements more flexible and dynamic operating hours. Between meal periods, the main dining hall is open with a menu selection focusing on snacks, noodles, and more delicacies.
The new Ai Mei Chinese Restaurant pays homage to traditions by offering truly refreshing and exquisite Cantonese cuisine while incorporating elements of the sophisticated and delightful Shanghainese food culture. The restaurant will represent itself in a completely new lifestyle approach with a contemporary setting and subtle traditional touches for the Shanghai market.
