The Supreme Court has upheld the cancellation of over 25,000 school job recruitments in West Bengal, creating a major political controversy. BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty strongly criticized the Trinamool Congress government, holding them directly responsible for the job scam. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee defended her government, claiming the School Service Commission is an autonomous body and questioning why Bengal is being targeted. The court's decision has significant implications for job aspirants and the political landscape of West Bengal.

"Truth always wins. Only the TMC government is responsible for this." - Mithun Chakraborty
Kolkata, April 3: BJP leader and veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty on Thursday blamed the Mamata government for cancellation of over 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff jobs in the state and urged the youth of West Bengal to get rid of the TMC dispensation if they wanted a bright future.

High Court's original decision stands validated

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the Calcutta High Court's decision to cancel the recruitment of over 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff by the School Service Commission (SSC) in 2016 for state-run and state-aided schools.

Speaking to ANI, Chakraborty said, "Truth always wins. It has come as a shock to thousands of aspirants, but only the TMC government is responsible for this. I want to tell society, and especially the youth, to get rid of this TMC government as soon as possible if you want a bright future. Only the BJP can offer a good future."

"There is nothing greater than the SC judgement. Why did this scam happen? It shouldn't have happened, but it did, and now the truth has come out. Only the TMC government is responsible for this. Change is very important and a must," he added.

The SC bench led by CJI Sanjiv Khanna while pronouncing the verdict, said, "We find no valid ground or reason to interfere with the decision of the High Court that services of tainted candidates must be terminated",

Following the ruling, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday attacked BJP, questioning why Bengal is being repeatedly targeted.

Addressing a press conference at Nabanna, Banerjee said, "SSC is an autonomous body. We, as a government, will not interfere with their work. If the Court mentioned three months (for a fresh selection process), we are with the candidates on humanitarian grounds. Sukanta Majumdar said that I'm responsible for this. Why are they targeting Bengal all the time? I was born in Bengal, and I know the intention of the BJP and the Central Government."

This is such a heartbreaking situation for all those affected teachers. They worked hard for these jobs only to be caught in political crossfire. Hope the fresh recruitment process is fair and transparent. 🙏

While I respect Mithun da as an actor, I'm not sure if politicizing this issue helps anyone. Both sides need to focus on fixing the system rather than blaming each other. The real victims here are the students and teachers.

The SC verdict shows corruption won't be tolerated! But I wish politicians would stop using this tragedy for political gains. 25,000 families affected - this needs sensitivity, not campaigning material. 😔

As a teacher myself, this news is devastating. But we must respect the court's decision. The education system should be above politics - our children deserve qualified teachers, regardless of party affiliations.

While I agree corruption must be punished, I'm uncomfortable with how quickly this became BJP vs TMC. The focus should be on: 1) Supporting affected families 2) Ensuring new recruitment is clean 3) Fixing systemic issues. Political point-scoring helps no one.
