Transform urban transport for better 'Ease of Living': Maharashtra CM

Mumbai, April 25: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday emphasised the need for a complete transformation of urban transport services to improve citizens' ease of living and directed the establishment of a Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) for this purpose.

Launch of e-bike taxis: Maha govt issues notification on eligibility, safety and fares

Mumbai, April 22: The Maharashtra government has released a notification specifying strict guidelines for eligibility, safety and fares for the launch of electric-bike taxis or two-wheeler bike-taxi collective service (aggregator) for cities with at least one lakh population, which is expected to benefit single passengers travelling up to 15 km and cover Mumbai besides several other urban centres in the state.

India records 11.5 fold leap in EV sales in last 5 years

New Delhi, April 18: India has crossed an important milestone with more than two million EVs sold in the financial year that ended on March 31 this year (2024-25). This is the highest ever sales in a single fiscal year, with a 15.6 per cent jump from 1.75 million sales in FY2024, according to a JMK Research report.

Speeding dumper hits 20 vehicles near Karachi's Lyari Expressway

Karachi, April 14: A high-speed dumper truck ploughed into nearly 20 vehicles near the Lyari Expressway toll plaza on Monday morning, causing widespread panic and damage in a disturbing traffic safety lapse. Commuters described the scene as chaotic, with several vehicles crushed and passengers narrowly escaping serious injuries, the Express Tribune reported.

DMRC achieves final closure for remaining corridors of Phase 4 line

New Delhi, April 4: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Friday achieved final closure for the remaining corridors of the Phase 4 ((Inderlok - Indraprstha, Saket G Block - Lajpat Nagar and Rithala - Narela - Nathurpur) with the signing of the first tranche of loan agreement between Government of India and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on 27th March 2025 for an amount of 79,726 million Japanese Yen (Equivalent to about Rs 4309.53 crores).

Achieved sales of over 13 lakh electric vehicles in FY25: Centre

New Delhi, April 2: The Ministry of Heavy Industries has achieved sales of more than 13 lakh electric vehicles (EVs) in the just-concluded financial year 2024-25, marking a significant stride towards cleaner, greener and more sustainable mobility which aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Net Zero’ by 2070.
