India's natural gas consumption likely to record 60 pc jump by 2030: Study

New Delhi, April 11: India's natural gas consumption is likely to rise by close to 60 per cent by 2030 as the country seeks to reduce dependence on oil imports and switch to cleaner fuels for running vehicles, cooking in household kitchens and industrial use, according to a study by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).

New Delhi, March 20: The Union Government is taking steps to strengthen the strategic petroleum reserves. Through a Special Purpose Vehicle called Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited (ISPRL), it has established Strategic Petroleum Reserves (SPR) facilities with a total capacity of 5.33 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of crude oil at three locations: Vishakhapatnam (1.33 MMT), Mangaluru (1.5 MMT), and Padur (2.5 MMT).
