UAE International Nuclear Medicine Conference recommends expanding use of modern technologies in cancer treatment

Dubai, April 21: Participants in the fifth annual UAE International Conference in cooperation with the Arab Society for Nuclear Medicine, which concluded on Sunday at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, recommended the need to strengthen specialised training and qualification programmes for medical staff, and expand the use of modern technologies in nuclear medicine, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and chronic diseases.

New Delhi, April 18: Former Rochdale midfielder, and Manchester United academy product, Joe Thompson passed away at the age of 36 after he was diagnosed with cancer for a third time in April 2024. Thompson was found to have stage four lymphoma - a type of blood cancer - which had spread to his lungs after twice recovering from the disease during his playing career.

New method may enable cancer monitoring from blood tests

New York, April 13: A novel, error-corrected technique for identifying cancer from blood samples is significantly more sensitive and accurate than previous methods and could be helpful for monitoring patients' disease status following treatment, according to a study by Weill Cornell Medicine and New York Genome Center investigators.
