Maharashtra CM visits Chapekar Bandhu Memorial in Pune

Pune, April 18: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday visited the memorial for freedom fighters Chapekar brothers, who in 1897 assassinated a British officer for mismanaging Pune's plague. The Chief Minister urged school students to visit the memorial, saying that the place is not only about where the British officer was killed but also gives a "glimpse of the progressive thoughts of their entire family."

Maha govt withdraws 6 pc tax on EVs priced above Rs 30 lakh

Mumbai, March 26: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Wednesday in the state council that the government has decided to withdraw the six per cent tax on electric vehicles (EVs) priced above Rs 30 lakh, as was initially proposed by Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar in the annual budget for 2025-26.

Maha govt tables bill to amend Stamps Act

Mumbai, March 19: The Maharashtra government has tabled the bill to amend the Maharashtra Stamps Act, 1958. This was necessitated after the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar in his budget for 2025-26 proposed to mobilise additional revenue by revising stamp duty charged on certain documents.

Maha debt stock likely to increase to record Rs 9,32,242 crore in 2025-26

Mumbai, March 10: Maharashtra's public debt stock is expected to increase to Rs 8,39,275 crore which is 18.52 per cent of the gross state domestic product (GSDP) as per the revised estimate for 2024-25. The debt stock would further increase to a record Rs 9,32,242 crore as per the budget estimate for 2025-26 and it would be 18.87 per cent of the GSDP which is below 25 per cent of the limit proposed by the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act.

Maha govt proposes use of AI based technology in agriculture to boost growth

Mumbai, March 10: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance minister Ajit Pawar on Monday in the annual budget for 2025-26 has proposed an allocation of Rs 9,710 crore to agriculture, Rs 4,247 crore for soil and water conservation, Rs 708 crore for horticulture, Rs 390 crore for Animal Husbandry and Rs 5 crore for dairy.
