DBT grew from 28 to 320 schemes saving Rs 3.48 lakh crore: J&K official

New Delhi, April 18: Dr Shakeel Ahmad, Block Development Officer (BDO) in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir, highlighted the transformative impact of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, emphasising its role in plugging leakages and improving welfare delivery across India. He said it grew from 28 schemes in 2013-14 to 320 schemes, saving Rs 3.48 lakh crore.

New Delhi, April 17: India's Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system has resulted in cumulative savings of Rs 3.48 lakh crore through a reduction in leakages that were taking place earlier, and a 16-fold expansion in beneficiary coverage from 11 crore to 176 crore since its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, according to a report released on Thursday.

New Delhi, April 1: The AI and machine learning (ML) based Aadhaar Face Authentication solutions developed in-house by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been witnessing a massive growth, with over 78 per cent of the total transactions coming alone in the FY 25 fiscal year, which ended 31 March 2025, the Ministry of Electronics and IT said in a release on Tuesday.

New Delhi, March 25: India has made significant strides in enhancing its social protection coverage through a comprehensive data-pooling exercise in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The initiative has utilised encrypted Aadhaar as a unique identifier across 34 major Central schemes such as MGNREGA, EPFO, ESIC, APY, and PM-POSHAN to process over 200 crore records to identify unique beneficiaries, the Ministry of Labour announced on Tuesday.
