Nagpur, March 30: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday that due to such a long journey, society has seen, tested and accepted the volunteers of the Sangh.

He was addressing a gathering in Maharashtra's Nagpur where Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre.

"With a a long journey, society has seen, tested and accepted the volunteers of the Sangh. As a result, there was a favourable situation, and the obstacles were also removed, and the volunteers are moving ahead," Bhagwat said.

Bhagwat said that in Sangh's philosphy, we say spend 1 hour on self-development and 23 hours for growth of society's growth.

"In Sangh's philosophy, we say spend 1 hour on self-development and 23 hours using that growth for society's welfare. This is our vision, and all our efforts are driven by this very principle," he said.

"The Swayamsevaks don't ask anything for themselves, they just keep doing service, because of this long journey the country saw the work done by the Sangh's workers," he further said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Madhav Netralaya is an eye institute and research centre, which aims to provide world-class Tertiary Ophthalmic services with compassion, precision and innovation.

After laying the foundation stone of Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre at Nagpur, PM Narendra Modi said, ""We have not only doubled the number of medical colleges but also tripled the number of operational AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in the country. Additionally, the number of medical seats has also been doubled. Our goal is to serve the community by ensuring that qualified doctors are available to the people."

Praising the government's schemes like Ayushmann Bharat, Jan Ausadhi Kendras and Ayushmann Arogya Mandir, PM Modi stated that due to these schemes people of poor and middle class families are receiving free treatment and cheaper medicines.

He said, "Due to Ayushmann Bharat, crores of people are receiving the service of free medical treatment. Thousands of Jan Ausadhi Kendras are providing cheaper medicines to poor and middle class families. There are more than 1000 dialysis centre which provides free dialysis treatment. All these have led to thousands-crore savings of people. In the last 10 years, lakhs of Ayushmann Arogya Mandir has been opened in villages where people get primary treatment and consultation from doctors. Now, they don't have to go 1000 kilometres for medical check-up."
