Poor education forcing youth to go abroad, says Kejriwal; condoles death of Indian student in US

The AAP leader was condoling the death of an Indian student in the United States, who was shot dead in Washington DC today.

"This news is very sad. In the last few months, many such incidents have come to light where the youth of our country were killed abroad. This is a matter of great concern," read a post by Kejriwal.

He raised the issue of students being "forced to go abroad" due to a poor education system and lack of opportunities.

"If we provide our youth with good education and better opportunities in India itself, then they will not need to go abroad. I request the central government to pay immediate attention to this," the post added.

Last month, another Indian student was murdered in Chicago. The Consulate General of India in Chicago expressed shock and sorrow over the incident.

In a statement on the social media platform X, the consulate called for immediate action against the perpetrators and assured that all possible assistance would be provided to the victim's family and friends.

On December 13, Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal also condoled the murder of three indian students in Canada.

Jaiswal said that Indian High Commission and consulates are in touch with the families and the local authorities for ensuring a thorough investigation.

"In the last week or so, we have had unfortunate tragedies in Canada. Three Indian students have been murdered in violent crimes. We are saddened by these terrible tragedies that have struck our nationals in Canada. We extend our deepest condolences to the grieving families. Our High Commission in Ottawa and Consulates in Toronto and Vancouver are in touch with the families and extending all possible help in the matter," Jaiswal said.
