Speaking to the media, Bhupesh Bhagel said, "The President of Akhil Bharatiya Congress Committee, Mallikarjun Kharge has called for a meeting of General Secretary and Incharge of all states at Indira Bhawan... I will meet all the leaders and handle my new responsibility..."
On February 14, All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge called for a major reshuffle in the party and appointed Bhupesh Bhagel as the general secretary of Punjab and Syed Naseer Hussain as general secretary in charge of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The new appointments included appointments of former general secretary BK Hariprasad as incharge of Haryana, Krishna Allavaru of Bihar, Rajani Patil of Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh and Harish Chaudhary of Madhya Pradesh.
Ajay Kumar Lallu has been made incharge of Odisha followed by K Raju of Jharkhand, Meenakshi Natarajan of Telangana and Girish Chodankar of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka will be handling four North Eastern states and has been made incharge of Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim and Nagaland.
On the other hand, Dipak Babaria, Mohan Prakash, Bharatsinh Solanki, Rajeev Shukla, Ajoy Kumar and Devender Yadav have been relieved from their responsibilities.
Other general secretaries will keep working in their designated capacities, the party press release said.
Syed Naseer Hussain has been relieved from his role which was related to the AICC president and most the new appointments are senior leaders who have organisational experience.
