Srinagar, April 12: In a significant step towards further promoting transparency, accountability, and strengthening public trust, Srinagar Police has launched a QR Code-based Feedback Management System named BHAROSA QR to collect real-time feedback from the general public regarding the functioning and services rendered by the police.

Initiated by IPS Officer Vaibhav Meena for community engagement

According to a release, this initiative allows individuals to scan QR codes placed at all police stations, police offices, and prominent public locations such as bus stops, marketplaces, and major institutions. Once scanned, users are redirected to a secure feedback page where they can share their experiences, suggestions, and concerns related to police behaviour, responsiveness, and overall service delivery.

"The process is quick, simple, and takes less than a minute," the release stated.

To further facilitate communication, Srinagar Police has also introduced a dedicated WhatsApp number: 8899112888. Here, citizens can send feedback directly through text, voice messages, photos, or videos. The system is anonymous and designed for accessibility, encouraging inclusive participation from all segments of society.

As per the release, a dedicated feedback management cell at the SSP Srinagar office will regularly monitor the feedback, ensuring prompt action on grievances and recognition of commendable conduct by police personnel.

This forward-thinking initiative has been conceptualized by IPS Officer Vaibhav Meena, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nehru Park, for community-oriented police service in Srinagar, the release said.

This initiative is part of Srinagar Police's ongoing efforts to modernize policing and deepen community engagement. This is the latest in a series of citizen-friendly initiatives, which include dedicated helplines for police verification queries and reporting drug-related activities, the release stated.

"Citizens are encouraged to make full use of the platform and contribute to building a safer, more transparent, and trustworthy policing environment in Srinagar," it said.

This is such a brilliant initiative! 👏 Finally a way to give feedback without feeling intimidated. QR codes make it so accessible - I saw one at my local market yesterday. Hope this brings positive changes!

Good step forward, but I wonder how they'll ensure anonymity is maintained? Also, will there be follow-up on complaints? The idea is great but execution will be key.

Used the WhatsApp option today to report an officer who helped me with directions. Such polite service deserves appreciation! More people should use this for positive feedback too.

Love that they've included multiple options - QR code AND WhatsApp. Different generations can choose what works for them. My father would never scan a QR code but he knows WhatsApp well!

While I appreciate the effort, I hope this isn't just for show. We've seen many "transparency initiatives" before that didn't lead to real change. Will be watching to see if complaints actually get addressed.

The officer behind this, Vaibhav Meena, deserves recognition! Community policing is the future. More cities should adopt such tech-savvy solutions to bridge the gap between police and public.
