Affleck was joined by director Gavin O'Connor and other members of the cast to promote the follow-up to the 2016 original. The sequel from Amazon MGM Studios hits theaters April 25, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"It does feel great to continue the story of The Accountant," said Affleck, adding, "I'm thrilled to be playing this part again with this great cast. In some ways, I feel like this character never left me."
The action-packed sequel brings back Affleck as Gavin O'Connor , a highly skilled accountant who works for dangerous clients.
The film follows Wolff as he is forced to solve the murder of an old friend. To do so, he teams up with his brother, played by Jon Bernthal. As they dig deeper, they uncover a shocking conspiracy. The trailer shows intense action scenes, with the brothers fighting their way through danger, as per the outlet.
Co-star Daniella Pineda shared that her character could hold her own with Affleck's Christian Wolff. "I do have some pretty brutal fight scenes that will look awesome on your screens," she said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The trailer depicts Affleck's character reconnecting with Bernthal after the corpse of J. K. Simmons' character is shown at the morgue. "So it's been a minute, yeah?" Bernthal told Affleck in the footage.
Later, the two find a unique way of bonding when they end up in a bar fight with other patrons. "My brother wasn't having a good time tonight, but now he will," Affleck said in assessing the scuffle, as per the outlet.
Cynthia Addai-Robinson returns as U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina. Other cast members include Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons.
Affleck and Matt Damon are producing via Artists Equity, along with 51 Entertainment's Lynette Howell Taylor, and Mark Williams. Executive producers include Artists Equity's Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe and Alison Winter. Scott Lastaiti and Jamie Patricof will also serve as executive producers, as per the outlet.
Filming for 'The Accountant 2' took place in the spring of 2024, during which Affleck's marriage to actress Jennifer Lopez ended in divorce in August 2024. The divorce was finalized in January 2025.
CinemaCon is the annual event for exhibitors and Hollywood studios that runs this year from March 31 to April 3. It is presented by Cinema United (formerly the National Association of Theatre Owners), as per The Hollywood Reporter.

I loved the first Accountant movie! So excited to see Ben Affleck back in this role. The chemistry between him and Jon Bernthal looks amazing in the trailer. Counting down the days until April 25! 🎬

Not sure how I feel about this sequel. The first movie was great as a standalone. Hope they don't ruin the original's legacy by stretching the story too thin.

That bar fight scene in the trailer looks EPIC! Ben Affleck does action so well. Also excited to see more of Daniella Pineda's character - she was fantastic in the first one.

Respectful criticism here - I wish they'd cast someone other than J.K. Simmons again. His character died in the first movie, and bringing him back as a corpse feels like lazy writing. Otherwise, looks promising!

The brother dynamic between Affleck and Bernthal is what I'm most excited about. Their brief scene together in the first movie was electric. Can't wait to see more of that! 🔥
