Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav criticized the BJP government's first Budget as disappointing. He highlighted the reduction in capital expenditure compared to previous Congress allocations. Yadav claimed the Budget relies heavily on taxpayers, failing to meet the needs of Delhi's women voters. Additionally, he accused the BJP of making unfulfilled promises regarding gas subsidies and grants from the Centre.

"The amount is too little to fulfill the expectation of nearly 44 lakh women voters in the Capital." - Devender Yadav

He said that the Rs 1 lakh crore Budget, presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the Assembly on Tuesday, has just Rs 5,100 crore allocated to fulfill the monthly honorarium of Rs 2,500 promised to every woman. “The amount is too little to fulfill the expectation of nearly 44 lakh women voters in the Capital,” said Yadav.

He pointed out that although the Chief Minister has announced a Rs 1 lakh crore Budget, the hidden fact is that Rs 9,950 crore will come from the pockets of the taxpayers to fund the BJP’s welfare schemes. Yadav criticized the Chief Minister for terming this Budget as “guided by the principles of B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” He argued that the truth is the Budget is based on false promises that betray the people of Delhi.

Yadav further stated that the Delhi Budget once again shows that the BJP government at the Centre treats the people of Delhi in a step-motherly manner. He highlighted that Delhi received just Rs 4,391.94 crore in grants last time, though the Rekha Gupta government now hopes that the Centre would increase the grant to Rs 7,348 crore. However, there was no mention of this grant amount in the recently awarded Union Budget.

Lastly, he noted that the BJP manifesto had promised free cooking gas cylinders for households during Holi and Diwali, along with subsidized cooking gas cylinders for Rs 500. He emphasized that this promise too has turned out to be hollow, as there was no mention of it in the Budget.
