Jason Momoa sets return to DC cinematic universe as Lobo in 'Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow'

Los Angeles, Dec 31

After being ousted from the DC cinematic universe as Aquaman, Hollywood star Jason Momoa is returning to the fold.

However, the actor wonā€™t return as Aquaman but as a new character. The actor has signed on to play antihero Lobo in ā€˜Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrowā€™, reports ā€˜Varietyā€™.

The superhero movie starring ā€˜House of the Dragonā€™ actor Milly Alcock as the eponymous hero, is set to be the second film in James Gunn and Peter Safranā€™s rebooted DC Universe following the highly anticipated ā€˜Supermanā€™ starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

As per ā€˜Varietyā€™, Craig Gillespie is directing the film, which also stars Matthias Schoenaerts as villain Krem of the Yellow Hill and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle. Ana Nogueira (ā€˜The Vampire Diariesā€™) wrote the screenplay based on the run of DC comics by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

The actor confirmed the casting news on Instagram by sharing a quote from an interview with Fandango during the press tour for ā€˜Aquaman 2ā€™ where he discussed his longtime fandom of the character, an anti-hero known for his violent and irreverent personality.

ā€œI collect comics, and I donā€™t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because Iā€™m like, ā€˜Hello? Itā€™s the perfect roleā€, he said in the interview. ā€œI mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, itā€™s a f*** yeah. I havenā€™t received that call, so I donā€™t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, Iā€™m thereā€.
