PKL Season 11: Puneri Paltan return to winning ways with dominating show against Bengal Warriorz
A
clinical performance from Puneri Paltan saw them dominate Bengal Warriorz 51-34 in a one-sided encounter in match 73 of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11 at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Sunday. Puneri Paltan showcased their raiding prowess through Mohit Goyat, Akash Shinde and Pankaj Mohit, as they inflicted four all outs over the course of the match. They also moved to third on the points table with this win.
After an initial blip, the Puneri Paltan raiders ensured a solid start for the team, dominating with a seven-point lead in the first 10 minutes. Most of these points came from Mohit Goyat and Akash Shinde, who quickly inflicted an all-out on the Bengal Warriorz just seven minutes into the game. The Bengal Warriorz struggled with a number of errors in the first half, allowing the Puneri Paltan to capitalize on every opportunity. Although Abinesh Nadarajan was the standout defender for the BC Ramesh-coached side, Sushil Kambrekar managed to score two points in a raid against Abinesh and Sanket Sawant, keeping his team in contention. However, it was not enough, as the Bengal Warriorz faced a second all-out, ending the first half with a score of 24-11 in favor of the Puneri Paltan.
The second half began with skipper Pankaj Mohite making an excellent start, continuing the Puneri Paltan's dominance. A high-flying jump resulted in a Super Raid, sending Hem Raj, Pranay Rane, and Akash Chavhan off the mat. Left-corner defender Mohit then inflicted a third all-out on the Bengal Warriorz with 15 minutes left in the half, effectively sealing any chance of a comeback for the Warriors. Nitin Kumar quietly contributed despite the lack of support from his teammates. At the 30-minute mark, the Puneri Paltan held a commanding 20-point lead over the Bengal Warriorz, who had managed only three tackle points until then.
Praveen Thakur provided a rare highlight for the season 7 champions with a successful Super Tackle. However, with six minutes remaining in the game, the Bengal Warriorz were all out for a fourth time. Nitin Kumar did manage to secure his Super 10 with an impressive Super Raid that took down Aryavardhan Navale, Mohit Goyat, and defender Mohit, which also led to an all-out on Puneri Paltan. Ultimately, the match concluded with a 17-point victory for the Puneri Paltan.
