National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) and the United Service Institution of India (USI) on Tuesday organised the quad cyber challenge as part of the cyber 'Swachhta Abhiyaan' to promote cyber security for citizens.
The Quad Cyber Challenge was announced by the Quad leaders to strengthen responsible cyber ecosystems, promote public resources, and raise cybersecurity awareness. The theme for 2024 is promoting cybersecurity education and building a strong workforce. This challenge received support from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and saw participation from principals, faculty, and students from ten Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools. During the Quad Cyber Challenge, speakers emphasized that cybersecurity is a priority area for our country and highlighted the pivotal role education plays in combating cyber threats. They suggested that schools must include cybersecurity awareness modules in their curriculum, not only to promote cybersecurity education but also to encourage students to consider cybersecurity as a viable career option. The National Cyber Security Coordinator of India encouraged students to develop cyber hygiene and noted that the Cyber Swachhta Abhiyaan is a significant step toward building a cyber-secure India. He stated, "By educating and empowering our youth, we can create a generation that is well-equipped to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly." At the event, speakers conducted awareness workshops for students and faculty members to motivate them to adopt better practices in the cyber domain. They also encouraged participants, especially women, to explore career paths in cybersecurity. Experts discussed topics such as Cyber Law, cybercrime and investigation aspects, digital forensics, cybersecurity career options, and online safety initiatives for children. Overall, the Quad Cyber Challenge stands as an international collaborative effort to raise awareness and build resilience in cybersecurity across participating countries.
