New Delhi, August 14
President Droupadi Murmu approved one President's Tatrakshak Medal (Distinguished Service), one Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry) and two Tatrakshak Medals (Meritorious Service) to the Indian Coast Guard personnel on the eve of Independence Day 2024.
These honours recognise the exceptional bravery, devotion to duty and meritorious service demonstrated by the recipients.
According to an official release from the Ministry of Defence, the President's Tatrakshak Medal (Distinguished Service) will be awarded to IG Donny Michael, TM (0258-L) and the Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry) will be awarded to Dy Comdt Aaqil Pathan (1544-J).
Also, the Tatrakshak Medal (Meritorious Service) will be conferred to DIG Balakrishnan Murugan (0373-V) and Girish Kumar Verma, P/Adh(RO), (01432-L)
Earlier on Wednesday, President Murmu conferred Shaurya Chakra on Squadron Leader Deepak Kumar for his act of exceptional gallantry and courage.
Deepak Kumar (32754) is on the posted strength of the Air Force Station (AFS) Hakimpet.
During this life-threatening situation, the officer displayed exceptional courage, perseverance, and composure in recovering a gravely stricken aircraft.
