arnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Saturday, while travelling from Mysuru to the Shiradi Ghat landslide site by road, inspected the ongoing construction work of highway projects in Karnataka and gathered information about it from the officials.
As the Chief Minister's vehicle approached Bilikere Cross, he was briefed on the 41 km long four-lane National Highway project proposed between Bilikere Cross and Yadagondanahalli.
Officials informed him that tenders have been called for this significant 600 crore project.
Concerned about road safety, the Chief Minister issued instructions to cover the potholes along the route. Stressing on the need to prevent accidents, he directed officials to cover the potholes when the rains have stopped. While passing through Doddakadanur in Hole Narasipur taluk, he directed officials over the phone to replace dangerously located electric poles and repair hazardous wiring.
The CM identified damaged road dividers while passing through Halli Mysuru and instructed the concerned officers to undertake necessary repairs work.
As it is Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah's birthday today, admirers along the route waited to offer garlands and shawls to wish the CM on his birthday. Although, the CM did not receive anything by saying "I do not celebrate my birthday'. He waved his hand and moved on.
Earlier in the day, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that the state government will construct 100 houses for victims of the landslide-hit Wayanad in Kerala.
In a post on X, Siddaramaiah said"In light of the tragic landslide in Wayanad, Karnataka stands in solidarity with Kerala. I have assured CM Shri @pinarayivijayan of our support and announced that Karnataka will construct 100 houses for the victims. Together, we will rebuild and restore hope."
