PM Modi has assured of all possible help to state: Himachal Pradesh LoP Jairam Thakur inspects flood-affected Kullu

imachal Pradesh leader of Opposition and BJP leader, Jairam Thakur on Saturday inspected flood-affected areas of Kullu and said that a huge loss has happened here.

Thakur also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that he will provide all possible help to the state.

"The situation here is a matter of concern. The people were not able to recover from the past situations and this incident has occurred again. A huge loss has happened. Several people are missing. Rescue is underway by the central government and PM Modi has also assured that he will provide all possible help to the state," he said.

On August 2, Jairam Thakur on Friday met PM Modi and apprised him of the situation after a catastrophic flood destroyed parts of the state.

"I met Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi ji and congratulated him on behalf of the state for leading the country for the third time. We gave complete information to the Prime Minister about the tragedy that occurred in Himachal Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi Ji assured full cooperation to Himachal Pradesh in dealing with this tragedy and said that other central forces including NDRF have been immediately deployed for relief and rescue work. Whatever resources will be required in future to deal with the tragedy will also be made available immediately by the Central Government," Thakur said on X.

Earlier in the day, the Indian Army launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations to aid the affected communities in Himachal Pradesh's Samej village.

According to the Indian Army, the road to the incident site was blocked due to a land shift approximately 2.5 kilometres short of the incident site, after which troops moved on foot beyond the blockade.

Himachal Pradesh Congress President Pratibha Singh said, "Samej village is completely damaged, people's houses are destroyed. This is a very sad situation. We need to be alert. The Chief Minister has spoken to the Union Home Minister, and he has assured us of help. We are confident that we will get help from the central government."

47 people are still missing in various parts of the state including 36 missing in the Samej area In the Rampur Region of Shimla district. Rescue and search operations are continued in the region.

The state government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has mobilized extensive rescue and relief efforts. The disaster, triggered by a cloud burst, has left a trail of destruction in its wake, particularly affecting regions around Manali.

Amidst the ongoing operation, Chief Minister Sukhu urged tourists to exercise caution.

"While tourists are welcome, I urge them to refrain from visiting risky areas such as rivers and waterfalls for photography and selfies," he cautioned, stressing the importance of safety during this critical period.
