athie Biga, MSN, FACC, has made history by becoming the first non-physician president of the American College of Cardiology (ACC).

She assumed the role today and will serve a one-year term representing over 56,000 cardiovascular care team members worldwide, leading the organization in its mission to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health for all .

<h2>Bringing Fresh Perspectives and Extensive Experience</h2>

Biga expressed her excitement about bringing her unique set of leadership skills and perspectives to the ACC as the organization kicks off the first year of its new Strategic Plan and celebrates its 75th anniversary. With more than 40 years of experience as a registered nurse, service line director, hospital vice president, and CEO, as well as 25 years in physician practice management, Biga brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role. As president and CEO of Cardiovascular Management of Illinois, she has worked with over 100 providers in the Chicago area and partners in their cardiovascular service lines at 14 acute care hospitals .

One of Biga's most significant accomplishments has been supporting the ACC as it evolved and embraced the culture of team-based care. She has been integral to this change, becoming one of only 72 cardiovascular team members out of almost 30,000 members who has achieved the Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) designation based on her professional achievements .

Biga plans to lead the ACC in a dyad model, leveraging her extensive experience in cardiovascular health care delivery, innovation, quality, and economic sustainability.
