Medline to Open National Sales Support Hub in Libertyville

M

edline announced it will open a new, national sales support center in Libertyville, Ill. to bring nearly a dozen teams from multiple locations under one roof.

The consolidation of approximately 600 sales support employees into one larger service center stems from Medline's consistent double-digit sales growth over its 54-year history.

Increasingly, healthcare providers look to Medline for customized solutions. We've expanded the teams that create, design and support our customers, and this investment in Lake County is the next step in creating a center of collaboration that focuses on making healthcare run better, says Charlie Mills, chief executive officer, Medline.

The National Sales Support Hub will be the seventh Medline facility in Lake County. Most of the 600 employees will be relocating from the company's Northfield headquarters and its Mundelein business campus. Both locations have reached capacity, and the move also enables each site to allow for the addition of new roles and functions in the future.

Currently, the company operates a business campus in Mundelein and a distribution center in Libertyville. Additionally, Waukegan is home to two small distribution centers, a manufacturing facility and sterilization plant. In the last three years, Medline has increased the number of jobs in the Chicagoland area by 34 percent, growing from more than 3,450 local employees at the end of 2017 to 4,650 as of January 1, 2020.

In 2019, Medline grew revenue 19% and had a record year of prime vendor distribution sales wins. The company is now the primary distributor at nine of the top 21 hospitals listed on the U.S. News & World Report's 2019-20 Best Hospital Honor Roll. Additionally, Medline has a strategic distribution relationship with 61 of the largest 150 IDNs according to Definitive Healthcare data. The company also saw market share increase across all sales segments and had significant product division growth, with every division increasing sales last year.

When the National Sales Support Hub opens later this year, functions supporting the entire continuum of care, including hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices, labs, hospice and home care will be centralized in the 140,000 square foot space. The company is investing $14 million in upgrades as it begins its 10 year lease.
