Zyfra to introduce AI-based mining solutions in India

innish-Russian digital solutions provider Zyfra on Sunday announced its plans to introduce artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions for mining in the Indian market.

The Odisha-based Thriveni Earthmovers Private Ltd has awarded it a contract to implement an 'intelligent mine' solution at the state-run power generator NTPC's Pakri Barwadih coal mining project in Jharkhand being operated by Thriveni.

A Zyfra statement said that automatic blasting result assessment and excavator shovel monitoring, based on computer vision, help substantially increase productivity and avoid equipment downtime.

The company said it has successfully tested two AI-based solutions for the mining industry that determine excavator shovel teeth conditions in real-time and provide continuous rock size estimation in the shovel bucket.

"We can now classify, count, and estimate the size of moving chunks of ore rock during mining and transportation. Rock fragments analysis makes it possible to adjust blasting operations. This system leads to an increase in process productivity by 3-4 per cent. We are ready to share the best practices with our Indian colleagues," Zyfra MD Pavel Rastopshin said.

The statement added that India has become the key foreign market for Zyfra with more than 500 Computerised Numerical Control (CNC) machines connected to its MDC plus real-time machine monitoring and manufacturing data collection system in 2019. By 2021, the company expects to have more than 2,000 MDC plus installations in India.
