Unusual invitation card for Rajasthan wedding creates buzz
A
n invitation card got printed by a retired Ayurveda practitioner for his son's impending marriage has attracted the attention of social media users and the general public alike, who are amused by the information he has shared on his past activities that have nothing to do with the family event in question.
To begin with, retiree Hari Prasad Sharma of Karoli town has got printed on the invitation card the number of votes (2,703) he bagged in the 1977 parliamentary elections against then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, which she had lost.
The fact that he was a presidential candidate in 2012 and 2017 also finds a mention.
The card mentions 'thank-you' letters Sharma received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he rightly predicted his election win, apart from a similar note from Union Home Minister Amit Shah when Modi won the general elections in 2014.
Sharma also did not forget to mention a note received reportedly from US President Barack Obama following the correct prediction of his electoral victory. Obama wrote to him again when his prediction on Osama bin Laden came true, Sharma claims in the invitation card.
Much to the surprise and amusement of many, the card introduces his daughter Yamuna as a reincarnation of late Congress leader Indira Gandhi and then points out that the invite is for the marriage of her brother.
The marriage of Sharma's son is scheduled for February 25, for which he got 600 cards printed. Another 25 cards have been printed for VIPs he plans to invite for the marriage.
