Simbalbara Sanctuary

The Simbalbara sanctuary located in Paonta Valley of Sirmour District has beautiful dense Sal forests with grassy glades in the Shivalik ranges. The animals found in the region are Goral, Sambhar and Chittal.

Renuka Sanctuary

The Renuka Sanctuary is a small sanctuary with Renuka Lake and temples. It has lion safari facility. The animals found freely moving are Chittal, Sambhar, Kakkar etc.

Churdhar Sanctuary

The Churdhar Peak is the highest peak in outer Himalayas. Apart from un-paralleled scenic beauty, the sanctuary has a large number of multicoloured and agile Monals in the adjoining forests.

Chail Sanctuary

The Chail Sanctuary has Deodar and Oak forests with grasslands. The common animals of the place are Sambar, Goral and Cheer Pheasants apart from Barking Deer and Kalijin.

Majathal Sanctuary

The Majathal sanctuary has a very steep and rugged terrain and the highest concentration of Goral which can be seen in its natural habitat. It also has the maximum population of endangered Cheer pheasant.

Maharana Pratap Sagar

The Maharana Pratap Sagar Lake sanctuary has migratory ducks from Siberian region during winter.

There are thousands of ducks in the swamp area between Shahnahar barrage and Pongdam and the surrounding shallow waters of the lake. Other important inhabitants of the place are Black buck, Cheetal, Surkhab, Cranes, and Pintails.

Manali Sanctuary

The Manali sanctuary situated at about 2 km from Manali town has dense Deodar, Kail, Horse chestnut, Walnut and Maple forests. There are animals such as Musk deer, Monal, Brown bear and Leopard in the region.

Kanawar Sanctuary

The Kanawar sanctuary located in Parbati valley of Kullu district has dense majestic Deodar and Fir forests. It has the largest population of Himalayan Thar. 

Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary

The Kalatop Khajjiar sanctuary has well laid out trekking jungle trails both at Kalatop and Khajjiar. It has dense Deodar and Fir forests. The animals of the region are Pheasants, Serow, Black bear, Himalayan Black Marten, Leopard, Deer, Barking Goral, Squirrel, Jackal, and Langur.

Daranghati Sanctuary

The Daranghati sanctuary located in the upper area of Shimla District has undisturbed forest area with plenty of wildlife. Monal, Tragopan, Koklas and Kalij are the pheasants found here. The area also has Musk deer, Goral and Thar.

Great Himalayan National Park

The Great Himalayan National Park located in Kullu District has temperate and alpine forests of Himachal. This area has many important wildlife species of Western Himalayas, like Musk deer, Brown bear, Goral, Thar, Leopard, Snow leopard, Bharal, Serow, Monal, Kalij, Koklas, Cheer, Tragopan, Snow cock etc.

Pin Valley National Park

The Pin National Park situated in the cold desert of Spiti Valley has large herds of Ibex and Bharal apart from Snow leopard.
