Ajmer City Information

Ajmer situated in the green oasis wrapped in the barren hills was founded by Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan and continued to be a major center of the Chauhan power.

Today, Ajmer is a popular pilgrimage center for the Hindus as well as Muslims.

Places of interest

Dargah Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti - The shrine is in honor of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti - a Sufi saint who came to India from Persia in 1192 with Mohammad Ghori's invading army.

Mayo College - Founded by the British Viceroy Lord Mayo, it is one of the finest schools in India for quality education.

Adhai-din ka Jhonpra - This remarkable structure has early Indo-Islamic style of architecture. It is believed to have been built in two and a half days, and is thus named Adhai-din.

Ana Sagar - It is an artificial lake built by constructing a dam across the river Luni.

Pushkar - It has a temple dedicated to Brahma. It also hosts one of the most colorful cattle fairs in the country.

Foy Sagar - Engineered by Mr Foy, the lake is an artificial lake which was constructed in a famine relief project.
