Shillong
Shillong is a beautiful hill station city surrounded by pine trees.
This capital of Meghalaya derives its name from the deity Shyllong or Lei Shyllong, who is worshipped at the Shillong Peak.
The city has neat Victorian Bungalows and little churches and a golf course which is one of the best in the country.
Shillong is the meeting point of traditional cultures and cosmopolitan styles. It is also termed as the Scotland of the East.
Cherrapunjee one of the wettest places on earth is also situated at 56 kms from this hill station. The Golf course here is popular and has 18-hole course.

By Rail: The nearest Railway station is the Guwhati Railway Station 103 kms from Shillong.
Bus: Meghalaya Transport Corporation and Assam State Transport Corporation buses are available, frequently plying from Guwahati to Shillong.
